  • Snow Crash, Fiction Book

Last night I started reading “Snow Crash”, a fictional novel written in 1992 about a pizza delivery boy and the metaverse..? apparently its REALLY good. Tim Ferriss and Chris Sacca are just a couple proponents.

I read 2 chapters and so far heres my review – I like the writing style – short hand sentences. like this: about an angry guy just trying to deliver his fucking pizzas before 30 min are up. tangential rant about state of the world – consumerism, hierarchy, high tech, greed, more. Pizza place on fire. Don’t care – need to deliver on time. You fucking idiots who started the fire, give the pizza IDC I need to GO! Rushing through traffic using high tech car, don’t need to look at road.

And so on and so on.

At one point I found myself asking myself if I like this book but then I had a hard time putting it down, with bloodshot eyes begging for closure and my needed clockwork rest, I know I’ll need to continue where I left off.

The fun/ intimidating part about this – it’s my first ever fiction read since Twilight in high school. I’m 30 now. Haha!

  • Everybody Should Write a Blog

Ok Seth (GoATin), I hear you.

In a podcast ep. with Tim Ferriss and Seth Godin, Seth recommends a bunch of books that all sound amazing (really excited to read the one about the professor-turned- co-founder of Occupy Wall Street) and it reminds me of how much time I need to set aside for reading. I can slam audiobooks all day in the commute and at work, but man, sitting down with a book in hand…that takes time.

Ok so you want me to start a blog…I can write about stuff. I a’int scrrd. I’ll just have to… ya, ill just have to keep it clean enough for my permanent record. I can do that. Totally…! I think anything thats in between clean enough for my permanent record and boring is ok.

Let’s come up with some points of focus. Constraints. Dare I say rules..

    1. Tell a story, stay on topic
    2. Humor is inevitable
    3. Don’t cross the boundary between a journal entry and a message that could potentially ever be shared
    4. Swearing is ok

Ok I’m bored of making rules those should work for now. I wonder if I can edit this in the future.

Heres a link to this podcast with Seth Godin and Tim Ferriss that got me here, right now, creating this blog.
